After many days of suspension following the deadly March 28 earthquake, the Myanmar Government has stated that it will resume issuing tourist passports starting April 22, 2025.
A strong 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, 2025, caused thousands of people to die and be injured and extensive disruptions to vital services. The digital infrastructures of the government, especially those related to immigration, were among the affected systems.
As a result, starting on April 3, the Ministry of Immigration and Population temporarily stopped processing applications for electronic tourist visas, or e-Visas. However, the processing of business visas went on uninterrupted.
Currently, after a few weeks of shutdown, Myanmar's electronic visa service has officially resumed.
